The health and safety of our congregation and guest are top priority
Currently, there are no reported cases in our community for which we are very thankful. The Session and Worship Committee will continue to closely monitor the CDC and Florida Department of Health websites for updates and follow their advice.
Right now, all worship services and other ministry activities are operating as usual.
Worshiping and serving together is not just an enjoyable activity, but the commandment of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Christ also commands us to be vigilant in our faith so we will be prepared and wise as we thoughtfully protect our members and guests.
According to the CDC and DOH, the best way to protect ourselves and one another from the spread of COVID-19, colds and the flu is personal hygiene. The CDC has several recommendations on their website, including staying home when you are sick, washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and using tissues to cover coughing or sneezing or coughing or sneezing into the crook of your elbow. Additionally, if you have or will travel internationally, especially on a cruise ship, then upon your return to the United States you should self-isolate for 14 days. If you are self-isolating or know of another member or guest of our congregation that is self-isolating, then please let Rev. Askew or the Worship Committee know so that we can make arrangements to provide continuing ministry to you or other members or guests.
Should the need arise, we are planning to address the potential occurrence of a local outbreak, which could include adjusting worship services and ministry events, adapting our communion and sharing of the peace practices, communicating through digital channels, online giving tools to sustain ministry efforts, and plans for local support and outreach efforts as needed in the community.
Finally, please join us in prayer for those impacted by this virus or other illness, for those serving the sick, and for God’s protection and provision. Jeremiah told us to “seek the welfare of the city…and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” (29:7)
